Park board revises account of drowning at Vancouver pool

Lifeguards pulled the swimmer out of the water at KillarneyLeisure Pool on Sunday evening, according to the Vancouver Parks Board.

The Vancouver Park Board issued a statement Friday saying its reportof an August 11 drowningwas incorrect.

On Monday, the park board reported lifeguards pulled a swimmer from KillarneyLeisure Pool near Rupert Streetand East 49th Avenue around 7:30 p.m. PT.

A spokesperson with the board, which oversees the centre, said the person later died in hospital.

On Friday, the park board said that statement was incorrect.

"We offer our sincere apologies to the family and individual. Out of respect for everyone involved, we will not be making further comments on their condition or the incident," the statement read.

The condition of the swimmer was not clear Friday afternoon.
