Kamloops Search and Rescue end hunt for Sun Peaks man

Kamloops rescue team has stopped active search for a missing 20-year-old in Sun Peaks, but RCMP are continuing to look for Ryan Shtuka.

Kamloops Search and Rescue hassuspended its search for a 20-year-old who went missing in Sun Peaks over the weekend although the RCMPcontinue an investigation.

The teamsaidMondayon Facebook that22 members and 74volunteers worked all day Sunday combing the areawith snowmobiles, dogs and drones.

Meanwhile, the KamloopsRCMPis asking for help from the public in locatingRyanShtuka.

"We have had the RCMP helicopter out today searching the area as well as we'll still be making patrols with the police dog service so our investigation is still very much ongoing," said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie with the Kamloops RCMP.

RyanShtukawas last seen early Saturday morning leaving a party onBurfieldDrive to walk to his nearby home.

"We'll keep searching until we have evidence one way or another,"Shelkiesays.

In a Facebook post, Kamloops Search and Rescue saiditwill resumeif new information is found in the case.
