Jimi Sandhu charged in Abbotsford auto mall gangster death

A charge of second-degree murder has been laid in the stabbing death of 32-year-old Matthew Campbell, a high-level gang member who was attacked at an Abbotsford auto mall in January.

A charge of second-degree murder has been laid in the stabbing death of 32-year-old Matthew Campbell, a high-level gang memberwho was attacked at an Abbotsford auto mall in January.

The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says 24-year-old JimiSandhu was arrested Friday in connection with the case, and will appear in court in Abbotsfordon Monday.

Campbell,a reported associate of the Red Scorpions gang, stumbled into a business with a severe neck wound on Jan. 2. Staff tried to help him and he was transported to hospital by air ambulance, but he ultimately died from the stab wound.

IHITSupt. Kevin Hackettsaid both Campbell andSandhu werepreviously known to police.

He saidthe arrest came after close collaboration between the Abbotsford Police Department, IHIT, and B.C.'sgang-focusedCombined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-BC).

Todays announcement is the result of a fast-paced investigation that commenced on the day of Mr. Campbells murder and continued around the clock for the past 30 days," Hackettsaid in a written statement."Gangrelated homicide investigations are often difficult to solve. Having CFSEU-BC investigators working so closely with our team was extremely helpful.
