Invasive turtles a growing Lower Mainland concern

The dreaded snakehead fish was not the only invasive species found when a Burnaby, B.C., pond was drained earlier this month. Biologists also found a variety of turtle that is now turning up elsewhere in great numbers in the Lower Mainland.

Some experts are concerned the red-eared turtle will push out native B.C. species.

People appear to be dumping the popular pet because of the expense and time commitment the reptile requires.
