The Vancouver Park Board approved a controversial public art project for Hastings Park that will see large bleachers installed at Empire Field.

The $450,000 art project called Home and Away includes a pair of four-storey tall bleachers reminiscent of theold Empire Field grandstand with signs at the top that say "home" and "away."

Park users will be able to use the seating to view activities on the field, and use a slide to get back down if they wish.

Many neighbourhood residents have expressed concern about the project, but bespite the opposition, the plan was approved.
