A North Vancouver man is charged with aggravated assault for allegedly not telling a sex partner he is HIV-positive, and RCMP say they are seeking other possible victims.

A North Vancouver man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly not telling a sex partner he is HIV-positive, and RCMP are seeking other possible victims.

Adam Thomas Rollo was arrested May 19 and has since been released pending a court appearance on the assault charge.

Rollo, 28, has known of his HIV-positive status since 2003, Const. Michael McLaughlin said Friday.

RCMP felt compelled to issue a public notice about Rollo, McLaughlin said.

"Police have what is called a duty to warn when it comes to things like this and that is one reason we put out a name and photograph so quickly," McLaughlin told CBC News. "One of our primary responsibilities is keeping people safe, and enforcing the law goes along with that."

It is important the RCMP talk to any potential victims or witnesses, McLaughlin said.

Rollo was released by the court on the condition he tells any sexual partners about his medical condition.

HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus, can causeAIDS.

Rollois described as white and five feetseven inches tall, with a medium build, hazel eyes and brown hair.
