Fog advisory reissued for Metro Vancouver, Vancouver Island

The advisory had warned that travelling may be hazardous due to low visibility.

Environment Canada warns of potentially hazardous travelling due to low visibility

An advisory by Environment and Climate Change Canada iswarning of heavy fog Monday night into Tuesday morningin parts of southwestern B.C.

The advisory warns that travelling may be hazardous,with low visibility and slippery surfaces possibly forming in areas with temperatures below zero. It follows an earlier warning issued on Sunday night, warning of fog heading into Monday morning.

The advisory covers Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria, eastern Vancouver Island, the Southern Gulf Islandsand the Sunshine Coast.

The fog is expected to dissipate by Tuesday afternoon, according to the agency.

Police say that winter conditions are settling in over the region, and have advised drivers to be aware of their surroundings after five people were killed in separate traffic accidents on the South Coast over the weekend.

Investigators have not yet said whether the heavy fog that was in place on Sunday and Monday morninghad a role to play in any of the accidents.
