A father and his three sons were rescued from a Revelstoke, B.C., mountain this morning after spending the night in the cold.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says the Swedishfamily was skiing at the Revelstoke Mountain Resort when they wandered out of bounds.

He says the group was able to signal for help.

"However, nightfall was fast approaching we were unable to remove the group," Moskaluk said.

"There was equipment that was dropped down to the group to keep them warm and safe for the night including sleeping bags and a stove, I believe, as well as a cell phone."

A helicopter plucked the family fromthe bushThursday morning.

Cpl. Thomas Blakney says it was the family'sfirst run of the day and theirfirst time at the resort.

"They went underneath the ropes," he said. "They hadn't even come down the hill yet and they went out of bounds. [It] places emergency personnel at risk, let alone those stranded."

Moskaluk warns those heading out to B.C. mountains to be careful.

"Weare reminding skiers and snowboarders that are taking in a day of skiing ...that certainly you should be prepared for the elements and strongly encourage people remain within the controlled area boundaries of the ski resort when their intention is to take in a day of skiing," Moskaluk said.
