Police asking for public's help investigating death of Deanna Desjarlais

Police in Surrey are asking for the publics help in their investigation into the death of a young Cree woman from Saskatoon.

Police in Surrey are asking for the public's help in their investigation into the death of a young Cree woman from Saskatoon.

Deanna Desjarlais,27, was found dead in a Surrey, B.C. park on May 17, but Surrey RCMP say they were unable to identify her until September 13 because of her decomposed state.

Her family had last heard from herin late April, when she was travelling from Saskatoon to Vernon, B.C.

Police are now trying to piece together her movements between then and when she was found.

"The Surrey RCMP is asking anyone who may have seen Ms. Desjarlais in the weeks leading up to May 17 to call us," said Cpl. Scotty Schumann in a statement.

"If we can determine her movements during this time, it may assist us in determining what ultimately led to her unfortunate death."

The B.C. Coroners Service continues to investigatebut no cause of death has been determined.
