BC Rail corruption trial delayed again

The corruption trial of three former B.C. government staffers was postponed for the second time on Monday.

Judge Anne MacKenzie announced the trial would be adjourned until June 2.

"Thank you very much for your patience," she said to the jury.

"Some matters have arisen that we have had to discuss and need to discuss further. You are excused until Wednesday morning."

The trial was scheduled to resume on Monday, after being postponed on May 25 because one of the accused, Aneal Basi, fell ill.

The trial is looking into former ministerial aides Dave Basi and Bobby Virk, who are facing charges of fraud and breach of trust relating to the privatization of the BC Rail company.

Aneal Basi, Dave Basi's cousin, is charged with money laundering.
