The father of a slain realtor from suburban Victoria is hoping a team of private investigators can help find the killer.

Jeff Buziak says everyone involved is "very frustrated" the case involving his daughter, Lindsay, has not been solved.

The 24-year-old was stabbed to death while showing a $1-million house in Saanich, B.C., in February 2008.

Police say it appears Buziak was intentionally lured to the home by two people pretending to be potential buyers.

Buziak's family, along with the Greater Victoria Real Estate Board and the Canadian Real Estate Association, put up a $100,000 reward for information in February, but the case remains unsolved.

Two private investigators are working as volunteers to help in the cause.

"There are numerous other people assisting and working,"Jeff Buziak said.

"Some that just have come forward to me and say, 'We've had enough. We're going to start taking steps in this community to find out who did this.' And that's taking place as we speak."

Saanich police say the case remains a top priority, but they were not aware private investigators were also working on it.

"They are private employees and if the client decides that they want to keep that secret, for whatever reason, they very well wouldn't share it with us," said Sgt. Chris Horsley.

"However, to date, we have no knowledge whatsoever of anyone working on this file other than ourselves."

Dateline segment on killing in works

Buziak believes local police have done all they can. He wants the RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team to take over the case.

Meanwhile, Saanich police are turning to American television in the hope of getting tips in Buziak's death.

Horsley said police don't believe her killers live in the Victoria area, so investigators are working with the NBC show Dateline to get the message out across the continent.

Crews from the show were in Victoria last week interviewing friends and family. A segment about the murder could air as soon as late August.
