Vancouver police make arrest after suspected arson at abandoned West Side home

Vancouver police say a suspect is in custody in relation to an apparent arson at an abandoned home at West 2nd Avenue and Drummond Drive.

Fire Sunday afternoon is the latest in a string of vacant home blazes

Police say a suspect is in custody in relationto an apparent arson at anabandoned home on Vancouver's West Side.

"Investigators will be interviewing him about this fire and any others that may be linked," said Cst. Brian Montague.

Theblaze broke out Sunday afternoon atWest 2nd Avenue andDrummondDrive.

On Saturday, Vancouver firefighters doused another fire at an abandoned duplex in South Vancouver.

Assistant Chief John Dennis said it was the latest in at least 25 suspicious fires in vacant homes this year.
