Abbotsford shooting leaves man in serious condition

Abbotsford Police say the male driver of SUV was shot before crashing into a tree.

The male driver of a SUV was taken to hospital in serious condition after being shot early Saturday, July 23in Abbotsford, B.C.

A witness said he heard a number of gunshots in the area around Blue Jay Street and Cardinal Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, before hearing a loud crash.

Police say they found a 23-year-old driver inside a Cadillac Escalade with gunshot wounds. The vehiclehit a power polebefore going off the roadway.The man was rushed to hospital.

"It appears the male occupant of the vehicle was shot," said acting Staff Sgt. Leisa Shea. "There are bullet holes in the vehicle, and there's casings on the roadway."

The Abbotsford Police Major Crimes Unit is currently investigating. No arrests have been made,and they say it's too early to tell if it is a targeted incident or not.
