Deputies were investigating claims made Tuesday by a neighbour that Justin Bieber attacked and threatened him during an argument in suburban Los Angeles, authorities said.

No one was arrested and few details were immediately available. A representative of Bieber did not immediately return a request for comment.

Online schedules indicate the Baby singer is in the midst of a European tour andperformed a show in Poland on Mondaynight.

Police called after morning incident

Authorities were called to the Calabasas scene just after 9 a.m., said Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

"Allegedly, there was a battery perpetrated by Mr. Bieber on this neighbour, as well as some threats made by Mr. Bieber," Whitmore said.

The alleged battery did not involve "physical touching," Whitmore added.

"Right now its a misdemeanor simple battery, which is unwanted touching," he explained. "It could be anything from grazing an elbow, patting on the back It could be spitting."

Speeding at issue, alleges neighbour

The wife ofthe man who accused Bieber of the assault in their Calabasas neighborhood told local media outlet KTLA News that the singer had been speeding through the neighbourhood in the early morning and acting like a "punk."

"He was speeding through the neighbourhood, driving erratically, like he was on a racetrack," she told KTLA in an interview.

"We have families here. No sidewalks. This behaviour is totally unacceptable.... My husband went up to him to have a civil conversation. But apparently Justin Bieber had a hard time being told to slow down."

The investigation was first reported by TMZ.com.
