Justin Bieber paternity suit dropped

A paternity lawsuit against Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber has been dismissed, according to a lawyer for the American woman who filed the suit.

A paternity lawsuit against Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber has been dismissed, according to a lawyer for the American woman who filed the suit.

Celebrity gossip site TMZ first reported the suit brought byMariah Yeaterhad beenquietly dropped last week.

Lawyer Jeffrey Leving confirmed Wednesday the suit had been withdrawn, but said the two parties were trying to address the matter out of court.

In interviews, Stratford, Ont., entertainerBieber refuted the allegationshe fathered Yeater'sbaby and had agreed to take apaternity test.

"It's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claims," Bieber's spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, said in a statement this month.

"We'll vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to protect Justin and to hold those involved with bringing this suit accountable for their actions."

Yeater had claimed she and Bieber had a brief sexual encounter back stage after a concert in Los Angeles, at a time when she was 19 and he was just 16.
