Tom Murphy

Tom Murphy is the anchor for CBC Nova Scotia News and host of CBC's Land and Sea. He became the Maritimes' correspondent for The National in 2006 and remains a contributor to the flagship program.

Tom has reported on stories such as the conflict at Burnt Church, provided live coverage of Hurricane Juan, profiled Sidney Crosby in his rookie year in the NHL, and travelled to France to report on the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. During stints filling in as CBC's foreign correspondent in Washington, he covered two Space Shuttle launches in Florida and Hurricane Dean in Jamaica.

He also was the first to break news with the now famous "potato patch" interview with Peter MacKay. Tom covered the 2014 shootings and funerals of three RCMP officers in Moncton, several Royal Family visits to Canada, and interviewed legendary rocker Sir Paul McCartney. Tom has also co-anchored several election night specials.
