Hala Ghonaim

An award-winning journalist, Hala was recently recognised at the Ontario Newspaper Awards. She was the recipient of the C.B. Schmidt Award for Novice Reporting for her past work with the London Free Press.

More recently, she has been working as a multimedia reporter and newscaster for 106.9 XFM radio and as a staff reporter for AM980 News in London.

Hala is a graduate of the Media, Theory and Production program at Western University, in collaboration with Broadcast-Journalism at Fanshawe College.

She is fluent in Arabic and is part of one of Canada's largest visible minority groups. She has a keen interest in multicultural issues.

Hala has lived in London, Ontario for most of her life. She grew up trotting through Old South, curious about the famous rustic aesthetic before observing the rest of the citys vibrancy through hour-long transit rides to school. On the weekends, you can find her hiking through Londons hidden green gem Elsie Perrin Williams Estate, scaling the steep rock climbing walls at the Junction or scarfing down on a spinach and cheese burek at the Covent Garden Market.
