Alicia Asquith

Alicia Asquith is the host of CBC Alberta News Late Night on the weekends, and also reports for CBC Edmonton. Originally from Northern B.C., Asquith attended Simon Fraser University where she received her degree in Communications.

She is an avid world traveller and has been to dozens of countries. She's done everything from trekking the Amazon, to hiking the Himalayas, to swimming under the world's tallest waterfall. It was while living in Venezuela that Alicia had a chance to work as a freelancer photojournalist covering two years of civil unrest. This inspired her to return to Canada and enrol in the Broadcast Journalism Program at BCIT.

Asquith's television debut came as a video-journalist in Dawson Creek, B.C. in 2007 before moving on to work for Global Regina and CHEK News in Victoria as a news and weather anchor. She originally joined CBC Edmonton in 2010 on a short-term contract, but has been here ever since. She enjoys that CBC Edmonton enables her to tell her stories on both television and radio. To date, Asquithhas had the honour of winning two RTNDA awards for her journalism work.

Asquith is an avid lover of the outdoors and has grown to love the river valley. In her free time, she can usually be found exploring the river valley with her dog, biking area trails, or hiking and camping in the mountains.
