For decades. the coastal boat was the lifeline of outport Newfoundland and Labrador. Everything and everyone, both people and possessions, came and went on the boat.

The grand old lady of the island's south coast was The Taverner, the oldest vessel in the Marine Atlantic fleet.

Twenty years ago, in 1995, The Taverner made her last run...and with her last whistle blow, an era of coastal boat history was finished.
