There was certainly no shortage of photos coming out of this weekend's G8 and G20 summits. From the high-level meetings to the protests on the streets of Toronto, professional and citizen photographers alike captured the goings-on from every angle.

Here's a roundup of our summit photo galleries:

The summits

One of the biggest stories leading up to the summits was the cost of security. This gallery outlines some of the security measures implemented or considered.

The G8 summit took place in Huntsville, Ont. on Friday and Saturday. This gallery provides a look at the leaders and how the community was affected.

We summed up the leaders' impressions of the summits in this gallery, using their own words.

Protests and rallies

On the protest front, the action got started well before the summits did. Environmental activists staged a protest in downtown Toronto on June 17.

An Indigenous Day of Action followed on June 24; CBC photo editor Timothy Neesam was there to capture it.

The weekend's first large rally took place on Friday afternoon, when about 3,000 people marched in downtown Toronto. CBC's Timothy Neesam and Showwei Chu were there, cameras in hand; the gallery is rounded out by photos from wire service photographers.

On Saturday, an approximated 10,000 people took to the streets of Toronto for a peaceful march that was later derailed by violence that officials blamed on a small group.

Several local businesses saw their windows smashed on Saturday. Some had already taken steps to prevent vandalism by boarding up their windows, while others took that step after the fact. Timothy Neesam provided this look at the newly plywood-laden downtown core.

Sunday saw continued protests, including one outside the detention centre at which people arrested on Saturday were detained. In this gallery, images by CBC and wire photographers depict some of the day's mass arrests and random searches.
