Gary Barwin

Gary Barwin is a poet, novelist and short story writer based in Hamilton, Ont. He was a finalist for the Governor General's Literary Award for fiction and the Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Gary Barwin is a writer, composer, visual and multidisciplinary artist and the author of 26books of poetry, fiction and books for children.

His national bestselling novel Yiddish for Pirateswon the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour as well as the Canadian Jewish Literary Award (Fiction). It was also a finalist for both the Governor General's Award for Fiction and the Scotiabank Giller Prize. In 2017, he published thepoetry collectionNo TV for Woodpeckers.

His novelNothing the Same, Everything Hauntedwon a2021 Canadian Jewish Literary Award in the fiction category.

A new poetry book, The Most Charming Creatures, is due out in September 2022.

He lives in Hamilton, Ont.
