Pasha Malla

Author and poet Pasha Malla was born in St. John's, Nfld., grew up in London, Ont., and now lives in Toronto. His debut novel, People Park, was shortlisted for the Amazon.ca First Novel Award.

Pasha Malla was born in St. John's, NL., grew up in London, Ont.and now lives in Toronto.Malla's debut short story collection,TheWithdrawal Method,was shortlisted for theCommonwealth Prizeand longlisted for theScotiabank Giller Prize and his first novel,People Park, was a finalist for the Amazon.ca First Novel Award.

His latest, the novelFugue States, follows two men on a journey from Canada to Kashmir. Malla uses the pilgrimage as an opportunity to buststereotypes of manliness and to question the nature of masculinity. He also explores the problematic nature of tourism, father-son relationships and how we use stories to make sense of our lives.
