Mark McMorris leads Canadian charge at big air event in Pyeongchang

Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris won the FIS World Cup big air event in Pyeongchang on Friday, in the first test event at the home of the 2018 Olympics.

The Canadian finished first overall on Saturday at a FIS snowboarding World Cup event in Korea.

Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorriswon the FIS World Cup big air event in Pyeonchang, South Korea, on Saturdayin the first test event at the spot of the 2018 Olympics.

McMorris, who finished third in Italy two weeks ago in the first big air event of the season, scored 184.75 points in his first-place finish in Pyeongchang.

Four other Canadians finished in the top 10, with Max Parrot taking second place after scoring 178and Tyler Nicholson finishing fourth with 171. Sebastien Toutant (152.50)came in seventh, and Darcy Sharpe(122.25) finished 10th.

AmericansRyanStasseland Chris Corning finished third and fifth with scores of 177.25 and 165.75.

McMorris scored 90.25 on his first run, but faltered on his second, scoring only 51. He solidified his victory with a 94.50 on his final jump.
