Boil water notice issued for 4 more South Shore communities

People living in the South Shore communities of Brossard, Saint-Lambert, Greenfield Park and LeMoyne are advised not to drink tap water for at least 48 hours after lab tests showed fecal coliforms in the water system.

The boil water notice, which affects about 130,000 people, advises residents not to drink tap water without boiling it for at least one minute.

Residents can safely wash their clothes and dishes with the water, provideddishes are thoroughly dried, and parentsare encouraged to wash children's faces with face clothes to avoid getting water in their mouths.

A spokesman for the city said this advisory has nothing to do with another boil water advisory in six other South Shore municipalities.

Louis-Pascal Cyr said the two water systems are served by different facilities.

At this point, it's unclear how long the boil water advisory will last.

"Our teams are currently hard at work trying to resolve this situation," Cyr said.
