Mairin Loewen only candidate in Saskatoon's Ward 7 on last day of nominations

On the last day of nominations, only one candidate is running in Saskatoon's Ward 7 so far.

Incumbent councillor and community development worker Mairin Loewen is currently the only candidate in the south Saskatoon ward. Ward 7 contains the Exhibition, Stonebridge and Avalon neighbourhoods.

Many other city wards have only two candidates running for office, including Ward 3, Ward 4, Ward 5, Ward 8 and Ward 10.

There are three candidates running for mayor this year. Former mayor Henry Dayday withdrew his name from the race yesterday.

The deadline to submit nominations to City Hall is 4 p.m. CST.
