A Hudson man charged with 10 offences in connection with a collision that injured two joggers last Friday has been released on bail.

Jordan Xavier Taylor, 22, was charged withcriminal negligence, impaired driving and failure to stop at the scene of an accidentcausing bodily harm.

Tina Adams, 20, and a friend were jogging along Cambridge Street on Friday shortly after 7 p.m.when they were struck by a car, which then hit a hydropole and caught fire. Taylor was arrested at the scene.

Crown prosecutor Catherine Sheitoyansaid that Adamsis conscious but remains in critical but stable condition.

At the Wednesday bail hearing, thejudge acknowledged the seriousness of the charges but said the conditions were strict enough to justifyTaylor's release. Hewas released on $10,000 bail.

Taylor is not allowed to operate a vehicle, possess or consume alcohol and must livewith his parents.

Sheitoyanargued Taylor should have been kept in jail pendingtrial.

"[He shouldn't be released] because of the gravity of the offenses, which are punishable by 10years of imprisonment, and the fact that there are two victims," she said.

Members of Taylor's family were present in the courtroom. One of them testifiedon his behalf.
